Paddle Alberta Instructor Certifications

Please note that Alberta Education released a new "Safety Guidelines for Physical Activity in Alberta Schoolsin September 2008Please refer to the Guidelines for details, as they are extensive and the certification varies depending on the environment and the activity. For example, the new guidelines include:

Teachers must first determine the type of activity you will be doing and the type of environment you will be doing it in, in order to know the certification required by yourself or the Instructor you hire. Categories of environments include: designated flatwater waterfront, flatwater lake, on moving water class I or on moving water class II.  (Paddling on river higher than Class II is not allowed.)  Categories of activities include: day canoeing, kayaking, voyageur canoeing or tripping from base camp, tripping on lake, tripping on river, with voyageur canoes.
