Position: Program Services Coordinator (PSC)
Location: Percy Page Centre, Edmonton, Alberta (but negotiable)
Salary Range: $36,000-$45,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
Duties: Our PSC is responsible for a wide variety of activities that relate to the ongoing operation of the association including, but not limited to:
- Marketing , coordination and administration of our canoeing and kayaking instructor development programs, and maintenance of our instructor database in MS Access.
- Basic financial book keeping in Simply Accounting, and working with our contract accountant to ensure the proper submission of financial reports for the association and as required by our other various grants.
- Budget and Business Plan administration in MS Excel, MS Word and preparation in conjunction with the executive, and the preparation of various grant and sponsorship applications and subsequent administration.
- Coordination and administration of our insurance programs (liability and property) for member clubs and agencies.
- Coordination and administration of the subsidy and grants program of the association.
- Supervision, and basic maintenance Adobe Contribute of the association’s website, and coordination of website development with our contracted web developer.
- Supervision of the development, maintenance and distribution of the association’s education, safety and promotional print materials such as brochures, manuals and newsletters in MS Publisher.
- Support the Personnel Committee in the supervision of PA part-time staff and contractors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
- This is a full time salaried position averaging 35 hrs per week (1800 hrs/yr) with considerable seasonal variation, and will require some weekend and evening commitment.
- This position will require occasional travel in Alberta and expenses are met as per the associations travel policy.
- Benefits including vacation, health care, and pension contributions may be negotiated.
- Starting date is November 15, 2010, with a first review and renegotiation at six months, second review at 12 months and then every 12 months thereafter.
Expected Qualifications:
- A minimum two year diploma, an undergraduate degree in recreation, education, sport management or related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of two years of related experience, with a portion of this with a not-for-profit agency.
- The successful candidate is expected to have intermediate skills in the MS Office suite of applications and other software as noted above.
- Class Five Alberta drivers license.
- Paddling experience, paddling instructor certification, and experience in the Alberta paddling community will be recognized but NOT a requirement for employment.
