| Morning Birding | Early AM for 90 min. | Join our resident birder(s) for an early morning walk or paddle as the bird and wildlife begins to stir. |
| Morning Photo | Early AM for 90 min. | Join our resident photographer to learn a little about morning light and how to capture those great sunrise, or morning wildlife photos. |
| Lakeland Circuit Canoe Tour (most be prepared to provide transport to the start) |
All Day (Sat. or Sun.) | Take a guided trip on Jackson and Kinnaird Lakes, a part of the Lakeland Canoe Circuit. Pack your sunscreen, lunch and foul weather gear; you will be gone for the day. The Saturday crew will portage the canoes in the 3 km, and the Sunday crew will bring them out… on the Lakeland's own canoe carts! Yes, it is a pleasant 3 km walk in and out each day on a well developed trail. Register early for this trip, carts and canoes will be limited. |
| Beaver Lake Tour (canoe or kayak) |
2.5 hrs or ½ day | With a tour leader paddle right off the camp beach and explore Beaver Lake with it’s many islands and bays. |
| Lac la Biche Lake Tour (canoe or kayak) (most be prepared to provide transport to the start) |
2.5 hrs. or ½ day | With a tour leader load the boats up and head over the Sir Winston Churchill Park on Lake La Biche and go exploring. IF the winds are favourable you may even get to see the Pelican Islands. |
| Intro’ Canoe Instruction | 2. 5 hrs. or ½ day | Join one of our instructors for an introduction to the safety and basic strokes for flat water canoeing. |
| Intro’ Kayak Instruction | 2.5 hrs. or ½ day | Join one of our instructors for an introduction to the safety and basic strokes for flat water kayaking. |
| Solo Canoe | 2.5 hrs. or ½ day | Let a canoe instructor introduce you to the joys of solo canoeing. A great way to refine your J-Stroke, and learn the solo skills. Some canoeing experience required… In a classic J-Stroke the top thumb turns ________? |
| Kayak Stroke Tune-up | 2.5 hrs or ½ day | Have you had a kayak lesson but need some refinement, or just completed our Intro’ session? Come work with an instructor to further develop your kayaking strokes and skills. |
| Tandem Canoe Stroke Tune-up | 2.5 hrs. or ½ day | Have you had a lesson or two in canoeing, know you could improve your strokes and efficiency? Then this lesson is for you. |
| Canoe Rescue | 2.5 hrs. or ½ day | How is your throw bag toss? T-Rescue? Towing? Knots? Need some instruction? Ideally come prepared for some cold water swimming…. to be encouraged but not required. |
| North Canoe Intro’ | 2.5 hrs or ½ day | Learn to paddle the big canoes of the fur trade: the strokes, balance, switching positions, and roles within the big canoe. |
| Youth Canoe (8-14 yrs.) |
2.5 hrs. or ½ day | An introductory canoe program for younger paddlers. Learn the stroke and safety basics. |
| Youth Kayak (8-14 yrs.) |
2.5 hrs. or ½ day | An introductory kayaking program for younger paddlers. Learn the stroke and safety basics. |
| Outdoor Digital Photography | 2.5 hrs. or ½ day | Join our resident photographer with your digital camera, review outdoor photography basics and then go for a shoot. And, then back to camp for a review and discussion of photos taken. |
| Birding | 2.5 hrs. or ½ day | Join our resident birder for a brief review of the many birds to be expected in the area. Then go for an extended and guided walk. Birding “glasses/binoculars” and field guides are to be encouraged. Our birders from the Wild Bird General Store are offering pre-trip intro’ sessions in Edmonton prior to Rendezvous ’10. These sessions will review the basics of field guide and binocular selection, and appropriate dress. The first evening session is scheduled for Thursday May 27 and registration may be made by calling: (780) 439-SEED (7333) or e-mailing info@wildbirdgeneralstore.com. Additional sessions will be added as each fills. |
| Sunday Smorgasboard | 90 minutes (1:30 to 3:00 PM) | Description: Did you miss something... this is your chance to at least get a taste of that other activity. We will have our instructors and leaders on the beach, ready to let you give that "other thing" a try... or to answer that question, paddling questions please, that kept you awake all night. We will also have some shorties: How to Pack a Canoe, LNT short version, Stand up Paddling, T-Rescues, Throw-bag competition, etc..... |
